Free (your) books at The Moon this Tuesday

Friends,

We heartily encourage you to bring a book or two that you're done reading to The Moon this Tuesday. Those who donate one or more books may feel free to take a new book from our Free Books table. Those who do not bring books may help themselves to a free book as well, but may do so with a lesser sense of self-satisfaction. We will provide some Classics and Used Gems, but we need YOUR HELP to send everyone home with a new book to dive into.

No computer books. No one wants that shit.

Thanks!

No Moon tomorrow, if you were confused. It's next Tuesday.

The next Moon show is not tonight, nay but is Tuesday, July 6 at 8PM. You invitation is already in the mail and will arrive shortly. This is one of the months in which there are five Tuesdays. If we counted sydonic (lunar) months and based our show on the position in the current lunation, we wouldn't have this problem. But modern society has adapted to the Gregorian calendar, I'm afraid to say.

In the mean time, you can get your fill of Moonkid mania with these colorful and black and white videos:

  • Bob, Bob Walles, co-host of The Moon, directed this video serial, Downer's Grove, for theWB.com. It features several Friends of the Moon, including Michael Blaiklock, Pat Boccuzzi, Ani Raya-Flores, and Brendan Walsh! It also features real-life pro-league comedians John Ennis and Kyle Kinane! Watch the first episode right now.
  • At the last Moon, we debuted the first two segments from our new series, True Facts About The Beatles, written by Stephanie Fagan. Watch the first one and then watch the second one.

We will see you soon, on the day society has chosen to call July 6, but which is really the 24th day of the current lunation. The moon will be a waning crescent.

The Moon: 36th Show

Dear Moongazers,

Huddle-admission is FREE, and the bar offers 2-for-1 vitamin-C-rich beverages from 7PM to 8PM.

Let's keep warm and watch these fabulous acts:

We are thrilled to add TWO musical acts to tomorrow's Moon!

That is correct. You read that right. Isn't literacy wonderful?

The Moon is proud to announce that tomorrow night's show will feature two spectacular musical acts:

A spectacular accordionist with the voice of an angel (a man angel), joined by his be-dreaded ukelelist friend, prepared to tickle your fancy with tunes and emotions.

...and...

BRYAN CONDON
with STEPH FAGAN
A modern folkster with a voice for the ages, singing songs of another time, joined by his operatic companion.

We are, of course, still happy to present clowning from Ishah Jannsen-Faith and Emily James, and storytelling from the Ophira Eisenberg. All of these guests will be presented in counterpoint to SkitFest! 2010, the biggest name in skit comedy. Here's what some of the masters are saying:

"I'm happy to pass the torch to a new generation of skit guys!" - Michael Ian Black, Stella

"We wish we had thought of this! No one can compare to SkitFest!" - Upright Citizens Brigade

"Fuck these guys." - Jim Belushi, actor

"Have some money, SkitFest!" - Lorne Michaels, producer
